Turkey supplier

As soon as we became aware of the shocking allegations made against our turkey supplier, Grove Smith, we immediately contacted the farm to investigate fully. We’re proud to work with British farmers who are committed to high standards of animal welfare and last visited Grove Smith in May this year to check conditions for ourselves. Everything we saw was as expected, as confirmed by the 3rd party accreditations they held with Red Tractor and BRC. We visited the farm again this week having seen the film to put the allegations made directly to the owner and inspect everything. He strongly denies the allegations of mistreatment and says much of the footage used in the film was not from his farm (he has made a public statement that refutes the claims in much more detail). At the farm we also reviewed all the records and we are awaiting copies of recent reports from a Defra vet and Trading Standards officer who both inspected the farm in early December following the allegations and gave it a clean bill of health. We have suspended dealings with Grove Smith pending further investigation. We would stop working immediately with any supplier who’d been found to be mistreating birds or animals in their care.
