The Selfie

At COOK, we hope that people are constantly learning and developing in their roles. Rather than using a traditional annual, or semi-annual, appraisal system we created our own tool to help people take charge of their own destiny. The Selfie is voluntary, although we expect anyone in a leadership role to use it at least once a year. It depends on requesting feedback from other people; digesting it – especially the awkward or difficult bits – then making an honest self-assessment of progress and challenges; and finally, setting ourselves goals that will be stretching.
Subsequently, we designed a team version for collective reflection and goal setting, particularly in our shops and kitchens.
