  • Coq au Vin really is a true French classic. Full of flavour (and wine) this is as French as an onion seller in a stripy shirt and a beret cycling past the Eiffel Tower humming La Marseillaise.
  • The alcohol from the wine and brandy evaporates during cooking. So a glass of wine with dinner isn’t out of the question!
  • A great option if you have a lot of mouths to feed. Just defrost in the fridge overnight, add a splash of water to the pan, and stick it on the hob until piping hot.

We never put additives or preservatives into our food. We do occasionally use kitchen cupboard ingredients that include some additives in their sub-ingredients (for example Worcestershire Sauce used in our Spaghetti Bolognese, which contains Tamarind Extract).

Chicken Thigh (34%), Chicken Drummer (23%), Red Wine (14%) (Preservative: Potassium Metabisulphite), Water, Onions, Cup Mushrooms (4%), Smoked Back Bacon (4%) (Pork, Salt, Water, Preservatives (Sodium Nitrites, Potassium Nitrate), Antioxidant (Sodium Ascorbate)), Chicken Glace (Concentrated Broth from Chicken Meat (Water, Extract), Maltodextrin (Potato), Yeast Extract, Salt, Glucose and Onion Powder), Butter [Milk], Wheat Flour (Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Nicotinamide (Vit B3), Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vit B1)), Brandy, Rapeseed Oil, Redcurrant Jelly (Sugar, Water, Redcurrant Juice Concentrate (7%), Gelling Agent (Pectin), Dextrose), Garlic, Tomato Puree, Thyme, Bay Leaf, Black Pepper.

Cooking/Serving Instructions

These cooking instructions are only a guide. Your appliance may have a personality of its own (or a different power rating). Please adjust accordingly.

Oven:

Preheat oven. Remove sleeve, pierce film lid. Place onto a baking tray in the top half of the oven. Remove film 10 mins before end of cooking.

Oven Settings

Fan 170°C, Electric 190°C, Gas Mark 5.
35 mins > remove film > 10 mins
Allow to stand for 2 mins and stir well before serving.

Microwave:

Remove sleeve, pierce film lid. Cook on full power.
850W
5 mins > stir gently & re-cover > 5 mins
Allow to stand for 2 mins and stir well before serving.

Defrost Instructions:

Should this product defrost, keep refrigerated and eat within 48 hours. Follow the oven guidelines but cook for 15 mins, remove film and cook for a further 10 mins.

Extra Warnings:

This product contains bones. Steam may be released when removing film lid.
