Since 1997, we’ve been making remarkable food for your freezer according to our founding statement:
"To COOK using exactly the same ingredients and techniques you would at home, so everything looks and tastes homemade."
If a dish doesn’t live up to this statement, we don’t make it. Simple. We sell our food on our own terms. This means you can only buy COOK food from our own, branded shops; from our website; and from independent retailers with COOK concessions. We will never be “just another supplier” in the freezer alongside the peas and pizzas. This is why you won’t find us in any of the big six supermarkets.
We are passionate about our brand and maintaining brand standards and excellence wherever COOK food is sold (and we only make food for COOK, never for anyone else).
We will always behave according to a set of simple values which apply to everyone. They are the Essential Ingredients that make COOK a remarkable business.
Our Essential Ingredients
Combine our Essential Ingredients in just the right way and you get remarkable COOKies. There's some deep symbolism in there somewhere (and edible symbolism has to be the best kind).
Only by working together as one team can we achieve our goals.
We all have different roles, different abilities and different personalities: by collaborating we can do remarkable things.
We look out for each other, look after each other and muck in where necessary.
Like all families, sometimes we’ll fall out but we always make up after a row.
In this video co-founder Dale introduce members of the COOK Kitchen Family from way back in the day when it was just Dale and Spencer working in our first kitchen 16 years ago...
The pig was Winston Churchill's favourite animal.
He reckoned that a cat looks down on a man, a dog looks up to a man, but a pig looks a man in the eye and sees his equal.
This sums up the way we talk to each other and our customers with absolute honesty and openness, looking each other in the eye as equals. There’s no “them” and “us”. We own up to our mistakes and we don’t do hidden agendas.
We're all pig: no bull!
This video of how we mince our meat encapuslates not only our honest food but how we talk about it openly and honestly - all pig, no bull (or in this case - 'all bull, no horse'.)
We all have the potential to do a remarkable job.
This means doing our work in such a way that someone else can’t help remarking how great it is.
Every day we get letters from customers to thank us for cooking up remarkable experiences. This is just one of them. (Letter read by kind volunteers at the COOK Kitchen.)
We spend more hours working than doing anything else (unless you sleep A LOT).
Let’s make sure we enjoy it and have fun.
We take our work seriously but that shouldn’t mean we take ourselves too seriously.
In this video COOK co-founder Dale takes us on a trip down memory lane to the site of his first ever kitchen...
Caring takes effort, not money.
It’s how we deliver quality in everything we do. If we care about our kitchen, our food, our shops, our service, our customers, our colleagues and our communities, it will make a huge difference.
The more we care, the bigger the difference and the more pride and satisfaction we can take in our work.
Cara from COOK East Grinstead received a special vote of thanks for the way in which she care for a diabetic customer who recently had a bout of low blood sugar whilst in the shop.
