  • We mince prime beef ourselves, adding in a little rosemary and thyme

Try it with:

  • There’s no need to be too fancy with a cottage pie as good as this. Just some peas or green beans on the side are a perfect accompaniment

How We Make It At Our Kitchen

  • It all starts with great ingredients. We trim the fat off prime, British beef and mince it ourselves at the Kitchen, so we know for sure that it’s top quality, lean mince. It’s then braised for 90 minutes until tender
  • Then we sauté onion, celery and carrots, and add beef stock, butter and flour to make the gravy. Then in goes a little redcurrant jelly to balance the flavours
  • We blast freeze the mince base (so the top doesn’t sink into it when it’s heated at home) before adding the mash. It’s special mash, of course, with egg yolks, butter and seasoning. Then we finish it off with a topping of Italian hard cheese, mustard seeds, horseradish and breadcrumbs

Cooking Instructions

At our kitchen, we prepare food by hand using the same ingredients and techniques you would at home. We then freeze our meals at -35°C so it tastes freshly made when you cook it at home (no nasty additives or preservatives required). Most of our food can be heated from frozen (sometimes in minutes in your microwave). Check the instructions below.

Oven:

Preheat oven. Remove sleeve & film. Place on a baking tray in the top half of the oven.

Oven Settings

Fan 180°C, Electric 200°C, Gas Mark 6.
40-45 mins
Allow to rest for 2 minutes. Ensure food is piping hot before serving.

Defrost Instructions:

Should this product defrost, keep refrigerated and eat within 48 hours. Follow the oven guidelines but cook for 20-25 mins.
